Eid Mubarak 2021

  • Today we want to say Eid Mubarak (Happy Eid) to our students and staff participating in Ramadan. They have fasted all month long, and are celebrating Eid Al-Fitr starting at sundown tonight, May 12.

Ramadan is a month-long observation where Muslims all around the world fast from sunrise to sunset. The purpose is to strengthen one’s faith and to experience the difficulties of people who live without basic needs being met. This observation culminates with the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr. This tradition and holiday is very special to those of the Islamic faith, and is a time for reflection, prayer, visiting relatives, exchanging gifts, remembering deceased loved ones, and helping those experiencing poverty. BBCHS has staff and students who observe this special time.

Family and Consumer Science teacher Maha Mohammad said, “I have lived in this community where the Muslim population is very small, 0.5% … however I am truly happy to see how much our community has grown to recognize the Muslim population and the celebration of Ramadan”.

April was Arab American History Month, celebrating the heritage, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans. We are offering a resource linked below from the Islamic Networks Group if you would like more information about Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
